In the past few weeks, JP Morgan Chase has opened 24 loan modification centers around the country staffed with customer service agents that will help homeowners one on one.
According to Default Servicing News:
If your loan in serviced by Chase, Washington Mutual, or EMC Mortgage (the former lending division of Bear Stearns), you can into the new Chase Homeownership Centers, talk directly to one of the lender’s loan specialists, and get immediate help to begin modifying your loan.
The loan centers are going up to assist borrowers who are at least 30 days behind on their monthly mortgage payments. Those homeowners who aren’t yet delinquent but expect to be soon can contact the center for help via a toll-free phone call. And, the bank is promising that homeowners will be told within 30 days if their loan can be modified.
If you’re not near one of the new centers (listed below), or you’re not behind on your mortgage payments, you can contact the national Homeownership Center at: 866-550-5705. They are open M-F 8 am – 11 pm ET, Sat 8 am – 8 pm ET, and Sun 9 am – 5 pm ET.
Chase has dedicated about 2,500 representatives to this effort and plans to continue adding centers and representatives in more cities in the near future. The centers are one of the ways Chase plans to reach homeowners eligible to refinance or modify their loan through President Obama’s Home Affordable initiative.
